C C Land Exhibition:
From January until May 2019 Tate Modern hosted a major exhibition showcasing work by the late French painter Pierre Bonnard. To promote the exhibition, Tate commissioned Sentio Space to create three animated chapters in a style inspired by the artist. We broke the Tate’s record for likes and engagement on Instagram, amassing a quarter of a million views and 45 thousand likes for a single post.
Animated by Holly Warburton, we created three chapters, each telling a short story, which stitched together formed a longer piece. We created each piece in both square and vertical format, giving the Tate flexibility to use the stories either as posts or paid vertical instagram stories.
“Pierre Bonnard rarely painted from life.”
Born 1867, Bonnard was, with Henri Matisse, one of the greatest colourists of the early 20th century. He preferred to work from memory, imaginatively capturing the spirit of a moment and expressing it through his unique handling of colour and innovative sense of composition.
“Marthe de Meligney appears throughout Bonnards work”

Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) lived with Marthe Bonnard (1869-1942) for almost fifty years. Their relationship spanned the great majority of his professional career, and is reflected in a high proportion of his paintings and drawings
“Colour is a crucial element of Bonnard’s work”
Awash with colour and full of fidgety brushwork, Bonnard’s paintings hold the attention of our eyes.
